Does the Ford C-Max Have Regenerative Braking?
The Ford C-Max has two braking systems. Always at the ready is the conventional disc braking system that uses caliper pressure on wheel disks to slow and bring the car to a halt. Hybrids like the C-Max also use a Regenerative Braking System to utilize the energy created by the car’s momentum to recharge the battery. In effect, the Regenerative Braking System restores your hybrid better while driving around town with all its stop/go traffic than on the highway.
When driving along, the motor/generator works like an electric engine providing extra up to 80-horsepower of extra energy to the wheels or your C-Max. When braking, the energy from the battery is shut off, and the motor/generator works in reverse to send a charge to the battery.
At Chatsworth Ford, we check the status of the Regenerative Braking System at each service to ensure your C-Max maintains a high battery charge.
